Bob is a shareholder and the Department Chair of the firm’s Tax Section. Bob has focused on business and tax planning issues, particularly for closely-held and family-owned businesses. He counsels clients in the areas of business planning, mergers and acquisitions, federal and state tax planning and controversy matters, estate planning, estate administration, and exit planning strategies for successful business owners. Working in a team environment in business acquisition transactions and with real estate development projects, Bob has assisted the firm’s clients in structuring transactions which have resulted in millions of dollars of tax savings.

In addition to his legal training, Bob has a strong financial background as a certified public accountant and extensive experience in business as a corporate controller and financial advisor to a division of a Fortune 200 company. He also has extensive experience in the area of tax controversy work and has represented numerous clients at both the federal and state level in matters involving tax audits, trust fund tax issues and litigation of income and estate tax issues in the U.S. Tax Court.

Bob represents a wide range of business owners and individuals with regard to their estate planning needs. His approach toward estate planning is to work very closely with the client in understanding its goals and objectives and developing and maintaining a set of documents that meet the client’s needs and address the complexities of the current tax system.

He also circulates a bi-monthly e-newsletter to business owners and their advisors in Exit Planning Strategies.
